SUMMARY
prominent eyes that are usually wider than thorax; tarsi 5-5-5. elytra not obviously striate, often with colourful patterns or metallic; long slender legs and large curved and toothed mandibles. body is covered in flattened hairs. The larvae are large-headed, hump-backed grubs, with pair of curved hooks on the 5th abdominal segment
